My partner has herpes

Finding out that your partner has been diagnosed with genital herpes can be an upsetting experience. Although it may be hard, try to remember that the experience of diagnosis and telling you will be very difficult for your partner.

Remember that nearly 80% of people who have genital herpes don't realise they have it, and the symptoms can take years to show up. Therefore your partner's diagnosis doesn't necessarily mean they have been promiscuous or unfaithful.

Many couples have a loving relationship and healthy sex life despite one of them being diagnosed with genital herpes. Remember that you and your partner are not alone. Many people have genital herpes and work with their doctor to decide on a genital herpes treatment plan to suit their needs.
